Tail Waggers is a collective operated salon that was opened to create a comfortable and professional grooming experience for your pet. We are all freelance groomers that strive everyday to provide the highest quality service. From check in to check out, we are very caring and put your pet's welfare first. This attitude, along with our backgrounds, skill and expert grooming will enable us to earn the trust you place in our ability to care for your pet. No matter what size, shape, little puppy, mixed breed or pure bred, we believe your pet deserves the very best.
Our salon philosophy is 'TO TREAT OUR CUSTOMERS AND THEIR PETS AS WE EXPECT TO BE TREATED. The founding principle of this are the five welfare needs of all animals. These are:
- Freedom from fear & stress
- Freedom from pain, injury & disease
- Freedom from hunger & thirst
- Freedom from discomfort
- Freedom to express normal behaviour
If you ever notice or feel that we fall down in our service please do not hesitate to let us know.

He completed his level 3 City & Guilds in Dog Grooming attaining a distinction. He has entered a few competitions and hosted sucessful seminars and workshops. Drawing in world famous groomers to the salon so that they can share their knowledge and skills. David is also a leading team member of the group that organises the Great North Groom, one of the country's largest grooming copmpetitions.
David has a love of long legged terriers owning two Airedales.
Dani has been grooming 10 years having trained under the tutelage of Peter & Becki Ensell who hold World, European & UK championship grooming awards. As all groomers she has a love of animals but a special affection to Staffies and other Bull breeds. She spends a lot of time volunteering at Dun Roaming Dog Re-Homing. She has three rescue dogs at home, Ceasar & Rufus both American Bulldogs and Bruce the Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
I have been grooming for nearly 3 years now and really enjoy it. I've always loved dogs and to work with them everyday is purely the best job! I have completed a level 2 and level 3 animal care/management course at college, and currently doing a dog grooming Continuing Professional Development course to expand my knowledge and to progress with grooming. I have my own cavapoo, called Toby, who I love to be around and to take on different walks. I also have two budgies, that have lived with us for about 4 years.
We offer numerous services in our salon and the list on this page is not all-inclusive of what we do. We take our time to discuss what our clients want and expect of us and do our absolute best to give the dog an enjoyable experience! However our standard groom includes the following:
- Mini Health Check
- Teeth & Gum Gel Treatment
- Ear Wash
- Blueberry Facial Wash
- Hydrobath with Suitable shampoo and conditioner
- Nail & Pad Trim
- Hygiene Trim
- Scissor & Clip to your style requirements
- Foam oral treatment
Grooming your dog starts with a good regime at home. A weekly brush through and health check will do wonders for your bonding and will make the grooming experience with us more pleasurable for your dog. We are here to give free advice on how to brush and check over your dog.
From our experience the earliest a puppy starts coming to the groomers the better it is for the puppy, the owner and the groomer. It gives your puppy a chance to the experience of the sights, sounds and smells of the groomers and get used to the grooming process. This really does help in the long term and it is most likely that if you're reading this you dog will end up being a frequent visitor to the groomers. We offer free introductory appointments. These would then lead on to puppy baths, puppy bath with feet and face trims then puppy bath and styling.
The final price charged will depend on the actual size of the dog, coat length, degree of matting, time since last groomed and to some extent behaviour. If you require a firm final price, please ask for an estimate or quotation prior to grooming when we meet your dog to discuss your exact requirements. In this respect it would always be advisable to book a Pre Groom Assessment before the actual groom so that we can give you an accurate price.
Before we carry out any work on your dog we ask that you fill out this form and bring it with you when you visit. If you do not have a printer do not worry we have copies at the salon. Consent Form
